I woke up this morning as God created me to be
Black and beautiful and to live as free
Someone with a purpose according to His divine plan
Someone whose worth is not defined by man
Someone who matters because I simply exist
Someone with peace behind my raised fist
Someone who’s hurting but who finds
strength in God’s word
Someone who’s hopeful the voiceless will be heard
I can have hope as I believe this to be true
When God created me, he knew Black Lives Matter, too.

I am Tam and I’ll sometimes do the most.
Like ask me for plain bread and I may give you toast.
Ask me for a quarter and I’ll give you a dollar bill.
Ask me for the highlights and I’ll show the complete reel.
Ask me for a paragraph and I may write the whole book.
Ask me to sneak a peek and I’ll take an entire look.
Ask me to dance and I’ll act like I’m on “Fame.”
Ask me who I am and I’ll say put respect on my name.
Ask me how I’m doing and I’ll give you my life’s story.
Ask how God’s been good and all the time I’ll give Him glory.
I am Tam and I am unapologetically me.
I don’t settle for less and will give more than what you see.

Whether it’s the perfect storm or a domino effect
This, too, shall pass for it’s only a test.
Find strength in those with wisdom to impart
And trust in the Lord with all of your heart.
Lean not on your own but understand this to be true
The battle is not yours for He will see you through.
Look with hope beyond your current sorrow
Joy comes in the morning and the sun shall rise tomorrow.
Whatever your trial, tribulation, happenstance, or fear
You are more than a conqueror and victory is near.
